The New Mexico State Women’s Basketball team faced a tough challenge against No. 9 ranked Oklahoma Sooners in their final non-conference matchup of the season. Despite an impressive defensive effort that held the Sooners to their worst shooting performance of the season, the Aggies fell short with a score of 64-82. Molly Kaiser led the Aggies with 24 points, while Fanta Gassama returned from injury to contribute defensively with seven rebounds and three steals. Tylie Jones also had a strong performance with 11 points. The Sooners were led by Raegan Beers, who finished with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
After a close first half, the Aggies went on an 8-0 run to take the lead, but the Sooners responded with a 6-0 run of their own. The Aggies regained the lead in the second half, but Oklahoma pulled away with a 10-0 run in the third quarter. Despite a late comeback attempt, the Aggies were unable to close the gap in the final minutes of the game.
