Desirae Spearman, a standout player for the NM State softball team, has been named one of the top players in the nation by D1 Softball. The El Paso native had a stellar season as a freshman, earning multiple accolades and leading Conference USA in various statistical categories. Spearman was ranked 64th on the preseason top 100 players list and was also recognized as the fourth-best pitcher/utility player in the nation.
In addition to her offensive prowess, Spearman also excelled on the mound, boasting an impressive record and striking out 75 batters in 84.1 innings of work. Conference USA was one of six leagues to have multiple players on the top 100 list, with Spearman representing the Aggies alongside Liberty’s Rachel Roupe.
As the Aggies gear up for the upcoming season, Spearman will be a key player to watch as they aim for their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018. The team will kick off their season on February 7th with a doubleheader at the NM State Softball Complex as part of the NM State Invitational.
