In a dominant performance, the New Mexico State Aggies defeated the UTEP Miners 85-57 on Saturday night in a Conference USA matchup. Zawdie Jackson led the way for the Aggies with 18 points and five assists, followed by Robert Carpenter with 17 points and Peter Filipovity with 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Aggies extended their winning streak to six games with this victory. On the other side, the Miners were led by David Terrell Jr. with 17 points and Otis Frazier III adding 13 points and four blocks. Despite their efforts, UTEP’s six-game winning streak came to an end with this loss.
New Mexico State dominated from the start, taking a commanding 38-25 lead at halftime. They continued to pull away in the second half, eventually leading by as much as 26 points. Jackson was a key contributor in the second half, scoring 13 points to help seal the victory.
With this win, the Aggies improved to 10-6 overall and 3-0 in Conference USA play, while the Miners dropped to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Both teams put on a competitive display, but in the end, it was New Mexico State who emerged victorious.
