NM State Women’s Soccer Team Prepares for Battle of I-10 Against UTEP
The NM State Women’s Soccer team is gearing up to face off against rival UTEP in the Battle of I-10 on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. MT. The game marks the end of the regular season for the Aggies, who have had a successful 2019 campaign with a 5-2-1 record in Conference USA. The team recently achieved their 10th win of the season, a feat they have accomplished for the third consecutive year under Head Coach Rob Baarts.
Leading the team is graduate forward Loma McNeese, who recently became the all-time leader in goals for NM State with 27. McNeese, along with other standout players like goalkeeper Valerie Guha and freshman phenoms Andrea Alvarenga, Ariana Ellison, and Milana Eyrich, have contributed to the team’s success this season. The Aggies have also received recognition in the form of several CUSA Weekly Awards and preseason accolades.
Looking ahead to the game against UTEP, the Aggies will be facing a strong opponent led by head coach Gibbs Keeton. The Miners hold a 5-8-3 overall record and are powered by freshman forward Ana Quintero and junior forward Mina Rodriguez. With their eyes set on the CUSA Championships in Miami, Fla., the Aggies are determined to finish the regular season on a high note.
