Mike Washington, New Mexico State’s running back, makes move to Utah

Utah Football Adds New Mexico State Running Back Mike Washington via Transfer Portal

Utah Football has been busy adding talent to their roster via the transfer portal this offseason, and on Sunday they made a significant addition to their running back room. Running back Mike Washington, who previously played for New Mexico State, announced his commitment to the Utes on social media.

Washington, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound back, had an impressive junior season at New Mexico State, rushing for 713 yards and eight touchdowns while also contributing in the passing game with nine receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. Over his four seasons of college football, Washington has accumulated 1,832 yards and 18 total touchdowns.

This commitment marks the sixth transfer addition for Utah this offseason, with Washington joining the likes of wide receiver Creed Whittemore from Mississippi State, quarterback Devon Dampier from New Mexico, cornerback Jeremiah Caldwell from Garden City, punter Orion Phillips from Missouri, and linebacker Jaxson Jones from Oregon.

The addition of Washington is particularly important for Utah, as they have lost key contributors in their running back room to graduation and the transfer portal. With Washington’s proven production and experience, he brings valuable depth and talent to the Utes’ backfield as they continue to build their roster for the upcoming season.
