Alleged sexual assault by Pete Hegseth, Trump’s defense pick, detailed in police report

A woman accused Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice for defense secretary, of sexually assaulting her at a hotel event in 2017. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, confronted Hegseth for his treatment of women and later found herself in an unknown room with him. She claimed he did not let her leave, asked who she was texting, and then sexually assaulted her. The woman only remembered saying “no” multiple times, and that Hegseth ejaculated onto her stomach. Hegseth denied the allegations, claiming the encounter was consensual and that the woman showed signs of regret afterwards. He mentioned that he had sex with her but did not plan to initiate it. The woman later went to the hospital for a sexual assault exam, and stated that she did not recall how she ended up in the room with Hegseth. The documents released by Monterey Police Department also mentioned that the woman consumed alcohol, but did not remember any hard alcohol, and believed a drug may have been slipped into her drink. Hegseth’s attorney stated that eyewitness and video evidence confirmed his innocence and that the woman had extorted money from him years later. The Trump transition team did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the allegations.
