Gov. Lujan Grisham has named Martha Garcia to fill the vacant House District 6 seat, representing Cibola and McKinley counties. Garcia, a former Cibola County Commissioner, was chosen for her proven leadership and clear qualifications as a district resident. The appointment comes after former Rep. Eliseo “Lee” Alcon had vacated the seat due to health issues and subsequently passed away from liver cancer. Garcia will now take on the responsibility of serving the people of House District 6.
