Mira Tinani, a sophomore diver for NM State, recently concluded her three-day showing at the NCAA Diving Zone E Championships in Federal Way, Washington. Despite falling short of further qualification for the NCAA Championships, Tinani put up strong scores throughout the competition, including a finals berth in the platform dive.
During the championships, Tinani posted a score of 239.50 in the 3m dives, finishing in 37th place. In the platform dive, she impressed with a score of 223.30 in the preliminary round, earning her a spot in the finals where she finished in 18th place with a total of 398.95 points. Tinani’s performance in the 1m dive saw her score 212.55, placing her 36th overall.
Tinani has been a standout performer for NM State’s diving team this season, contributing significantly at the WAC Championships where she earned 35 points, with a second-place finish in the platform dive. Coach Rick Pratt expressed pride in Tinani’s performance, noting her bright future and potential in the sport.
