The iconic Western franchise Young Guns is set to make a comeback with the third installment titled “Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive,” currently filming in New Mexico. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced the production at the State Capitol, joined by director and star Emilio Estevez, who will reprise his role as Billy the Kid. Original cast members Lou Diamond Phillips and Christian Slater will also return for the film, which will introduce a new generation of regulators. The screenplay is being co-written by Estevez and original writer John Fusco. The production is expected to provide jobs for hundreds of local crew members and actors, as well as support staff and vendors, boosting the state’s economy. The original films, “Young Guns” and “Young Guns II,” released in the late 80s and early 90s, helped establish New Mexico as a premier filming destination. The upcoming installment is anticipated to continue this legacy and solidify the state’s place in the national film industry.
