85% of Tesla investors believe Elon Musk’s politics are negatively impacting the company, survey reveals.

A survey conducted by Morgan Stanley found that 85% of the 245 respondents believe Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in politics has had a negative impact on the company’s business fundamentals. Specifically, 45% said his political activities had a negative effect, while 40% said they were extremely negative. Only 3% found them to be positive, and 12% deemed them insignificant. The survey also revealed that a majority of respondents anticipate Tesla deliveries to decrease this year.

Despite not being a random sample and not necessarily being Tesla stock owners, the respondents expressed concerns about Tesla’s future performance. Nearly 60% expected deliveries to decline in 2025, with 21% predicting a decrease of more than 10%. Only 19% foresaw an increase in deliveries, and 23% believed they would remain flat.

Musk’s political involvement, including his support for former President Donald Trump and his role leading the Department of Government Efficiency, has garnered criticism and raised concerns among respondents. Musk himself admitted that managing his businesses, including Tesla, SpaceX, and X, has become more challenging due to his political endeavors.

Despite a recent drop in Tesla’s stock price, 45% of respondents believe the shares will increase by at least 11% by the end of the year. Around 36% expect a further decline, while 19% anticipate the stock price to remain relatively stable. Trump’s public support for Tesla and Musk after recent criticisms suggest a level of confidence in the company.
