On Senior Day in E.A. Diddle Arena, WKU women’s basketball secured a resounding 85-68 victory over New Mexico State. Seniors Alexis Mead and Mariama Sow, along with graduate student Destiny Salary, were honored after the game. The Lady Toppers took control early, going on a dominant 19-2 run in the first quarter and holding a double-digit lead for the rest of the game. Alexis Mead led the scoring with 23 points, while Josie Gilvin contributed 18 points and Destiny Salary added 17 points.
WKU’s strong performance included 23 assists, shooting over 50% from the field, and making 12 three-pointers. The win improved their record to 21-7 and 12-4 in CUSA play. The Lady Toppers have been successful this season when scoring over 70 points and holding opponents below 70. Next up, WKU will finish the regular season with road games against FIU and Liberty. The team’s performance on the court continues to impress, setting a positive tone as they head towards the postseason.
