Joint Township District Memorial Hospital (JTDMH) has announced the standardization of The Hercules Patient Repositioner across all inpatient care areas, making them one of the first hospitals in Ohio to implement this innovative technology hospital-wide. The Hercules Patient Repositioner automates patient boosting, a physically demanding task that often leads to nurse fatigue, injury, and burnout. By eliminating manual repositioning, this technology helps to improve nursing retention, enhance patient outcomes, and streamline hospital operations.
A recent pilot program in JTDMH’s acute care unit demonstrated the significant impact of Hercules on staff well-being, with a post-pilot survey indicating that 100% of nursing staff agreed the technology would extend their careers at the bedside. Chief Nursing Officer Lana Hinders emphasized the hospital’s commitment to team member safety and creating a ‘best place to work’ environment through the implementation of this technology.
JTDMH is also the first hospital in Ohio to fully implement the Hercules system in an obstetrical area, providing benefits in labor and delivery and post-cesarean care where frequent repositioning is required. Beyond caregiver benefits, Hercules enhances clinical outcomes by reducing the risk of Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPIs) and improving patient comfort.
By integrating The Hercules Patient Repositioner, JTDMH is prioritizing patient safety, caregiver well-being, and operational efficiency, setting a new standard for hospital care in the region. A ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this milestone was held on February 26th, showcasing the hospital’s commitment to nurse safety, patient comfort, and innovation in maternity care.
Additionally, The Hercules Patient Repositioner has been shown to reduce stress on nurses, streamline patient care, cut costs, and save invaluable nursing time.
