The NM State men’s basketball team suffered a 71-66 loss against Middle Tennessee in their penultimate home game of the season. Despite a strong start and a lead at halftime, Middle Tennessee’s Cam Weston’s 30-point performance in the second half led to their victory. NM State was led by Christian Cook with 24 points and Peter Filipovity with 16 points. This loss snapped the Aggies’ three-game win streak and marked just their second loss when leading with five minutes remaining. The Aggies struggled to defend the three-point shot in the second half, allowing Middle Tennessee to make a comeback and secure the win.
Christian Cook’s 24 points marked his highest scoring output since January and was the ninth time this season he has led the team in scoring. Filipovity also continued his streak of scoring 15 or more points for the third consecutive game. Despite the defeat, the Aggies remain focused on finishing the season strong.
