Police: South Carolina man dies after being shot by family member’s booby trap

Jordan Dove, 34, was shot and killed by a shotgun booby trap at a vacant home in South Carolina. He was wounded upon arrival and later succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital. The home belonged to one of Dove’s family members, and authorities believe the trap was targeted at law enforcement. The suspect, Alfonzo Brown, is currently incarcerated and charges are forthcoming. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident and found a shotgun rigged at the back door of the residence. The front door was barricaded shut and no other occupants were inside. The sheriff emphasized the dangers faced by law enforcement in such situations but reassured the public that there is no current threat. The investigation is ongoing, and further information is not available at this time. Dove’s tragic death serves as a reminder of the potential risks and dangers that law enforcement officials may encounter in the line of duty.
