The State Theatre in State College recently hosted a free early access screening of the upcoming sci-fi comedy film “Mickey 17,” starring Robert Pattinson. The event was made possible with the help of Warner Bros. at Penn State, specifically through the efforts of Seth Breinberg, a second-year advertising student at Penn State. Breinberg, who serves as a film publicity ambassador for Warner Bros. at Penn State, worked to promote the event on campus and designed merchandise for the film.
Attendees, including first-year students Julia Megibow and Alyssa Flusser, were excited to see the movie and particularly to catch a glimpse of Pattinson, who plays the lead character in “Mickey 17.” The film, based on the novel by Edward Ashton, tells the story of Mickey, a disposable human sent to populate the frozen world of Niflheim, where he undergoes various experiments and regenerations.
The screening drew a large crowd, with guests lining up down College Avenue to secure a seat. Once the movie started, the audience responded positively, enjoying the humor, political commentary, and costume designs in the film. While “Mickey 17” is set for release in March 2025, it was well-received by science fiction enthusiasts and Pattinson fans alike at the early screening.
Overall, the event was a success, showcasing the collaborative efforts of Warner Bros. at Penn State and the State Theatre in bringing exclusive film experiences to the local community.Attendees left the screening with free posters and merchandise, designed by Breinberg, adding to the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of “Mickey 17.”
