Texas Tech track and field had a successful two-day competition at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The team had 33 top-five finishes and set several personal bests during the event.
Junior Naoimi Krebs set a new personal best and the nation’s fastest time of 7.97 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Shawn Brown also achieved a personal best with a time of 6.52 seconds in the 60m, the fastest in the nation.
Sophomore Temitope Adeshina won the high jump event with a height of 1.92m, just shy of her season best. Sophomore Kashlee Dickinson set a personal best in the pole vault and moved to Tech’s second all-time list for highest pole vault.
In the triple jump, Tech took first place in both men’s and women’s events with Garison Breeding and Tamiah Washington. Junior Antoine Andrews climbed from seventh place in the prelims for the 60m hurdles to first in the finals.
Senior Success Umukoro placed first in all three 60m races, followed closely by senior Brianna Howard in third place.
Overall, the Texas Tech track and field team had a strong showing at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, and they look forward to hosting the Jarvis Scott meet, the last meet of the regular season, at the Sports Performance Center.
