Technology sets new national records at New Mexico Classic | Sports


Texas Tech track and field athletes had an outstanding performance at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic last weekend, bringing home an impressive 33 top-five finishes and multiple personal bests. Junior Naoimi Krebs set a new personal best and nation-fastest time of 7.97 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Senior Shawn Brown also set the nation’s fastest time of 6.52 seconds in the 60m finals.

Sophomore Temitope Adeshina won first place in the high jump with a height of 1.92m, just shy of her season best. Sophomore Kashlee Dickinson achieved her personal best in the pole vault, moving to Tech’s second all-time list for highest pole vault.

In the triple jump, senior Garison Breeding and junior Tamiah Washington secured first place for Tech in both the men’s and women’s events. Junior Suzan Ogunleye and senior Busola Akinduro also grabbed the second and third spots in the competition.

Junior Antoine Andrews climbed from seventh place in the prelims to first in the finals for the 60m hurdles. Senior Success Umukoro dominated the women’s 60m races, taking first place in all three events.

Tech Athletics announced that the Jarvis Scott meet will be the last meet of the regular season and will be hosted by Texas Tech on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Performance Center. The team is looking to build on their success at the upcoming meet.
