Joy Angela Shanaberger, a seasoned expert in defense technology and strategic innovation, has been appointed as the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM). Prior to joining USCENTCOM, Shanaberger served as a Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, where she played a pivotal role in advancing defense and military innovation on a large scale. Shanaberger also founded Boone Group, a technology acceleration company focused on deploying cutting-edge solutions for defense and intelligence communities. She has advised numerous defense technology firms, worked within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, & Logistics, and spearheaded community-driven security initiatives aimed at countering gang violence and supporting veterans.
With an MBA from The George Washington University School of Business, specializing in International Business and Cybersecurity, Shanaberger has conducted international residencies in countries such as Qatar, Estonia, and Turkey. Her dedication to leveraging technology for national security is evident in her diverse roles in government, business, and philanthropy.
