UCLA’s track and field team set new school records at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque over the weekend. Sydney Johnson started by breaking the pentathlon record with 4,090 points, while the women’s 4×400 relay team set a new record with a time of 3:28.60. Taylor Snaer and Naomi Johnson also broke records in the 200m event, achieving times under 23 seconds for the first time in school history. Overall, UCLA had eight podium finishes and ended sixth on the women’s side and 12th on the men’s side out of 18 teams.
In addition to the records set, Gabriel Clement, Sonia Virk, and Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck also had strong performances in various track events. In field events, UCLA’s athletes like Valentina Fakrogha and Camryn O’Bannon excelled in events like high jump and long jump, earning top finishes.
The Bruins ended the classic with a successful showing of talent across various events, setting the stage for a promising future in the upcoming track and field season.
