Tech heads to Albuquerque for New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Sports Event

Texas Tech track and field team is gearing up to compete in the New Mexico Collegiate Classic this weekend at the Albuquerque Convention Center. This will be the team’s first and final away meet before heading into post-season play. In the recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, both the men’s and women’s teams have moved down but still hold strong positions in the top 10, with the men at No. 7 and the women at No. 3.

Junior Antoine Andrews and sophomore Malachi Snow are set to compete in the meet, both ranking second for the 60-meter hurdles in the NCAA. Fifth-year thrower Shelby Frank, who is the NCAA’s second-ranked thrower, will also be participating in the event. Additionally, junior Shaemar Uter will be making his 2025 debut in the 400m relay.

Following the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, the team will be back in action for the Jarvis Scott Open on February 14th, which will be their final regular season meet before they take a week off to prepare for the Big 12 Indoor Championships on February 28th. The Red Raiders are looking to continue their strong performances and aim for success as they head into the crucial post-season period.
