Trump’s First Executive Orders of New Administration Signed

After being sworn in as president, Donald Trump signed multiple executive orders to implement his agenda, including declaring a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border, resuming construction on his border wall, terminating diversity programs in federal agencies, and ending birthright citizenship. These actions have stirred controversy and legal challenges from Democrats and legal groups.

In addition to immigration policies, Trump also signed orders regarding TikTok’s sale, revoking previous executive actions by Joe Biden, freezing new regulations and federal hiring, and withdrawing from the Paris climate treaty. He also implemented a “Remain in Mexico” policy, designated targeted cartels and gangs as foreign terrorist organizations, and declared a national emergency at the border.

Other executive orders focused on diversity initiatives in the federal government, defining gender policies, creating a Department of Government Efficiency, and reforming job protections for government workers. Trump also signed orders to boost American energy production, change the names of Denali and the Gulf of Mexico, and secure or revoke security clearances of former officials.

Critics have raised concerns about the legality and impact of these executive orders, with some challenging them in court. Trump’s actions on his first day back in office far exceeded what he did in 2017 and went beyond the number of orders signed by Biden on his first day in office. The flurry of executive actions signaled Trump’s intent to swiftly enact his policies during his second term in office.
