Representative Deb Haaland and Secretary of the Interior made headlines at a rally in Albuquerque’s Civic Plaza on Sunday, rallying opposition to President Trump’s priorities for the next four years. Haaland praised New Mexico’s progress and urged the crowd to continue fighting for reproductive freedom, clean energy, and education.
The People’s March, formerly known as the Women’s March, drew hundreds of attendees who marched to promote equal rights in the face of the Trump administration. Haaland addressed Trump’s second term, emphasizing the need to push back against an administration that doesn’t care about regular people.
While Haaland did not mention her rumored run for governor, Representative Stansbury also spoke at the rally, highlighting the importance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Inauguration Day. Stansbury encouraged the crowd to continue fighting for their beliefs and not give in to despair.
