NM State Track & Field begins their 2025 season at the Corky Classic hosted by Texas Tech. Head Coach Joseph Rath returns for his fourth season with two new assistant coaches, Olympic Gold Medalist David Verburg and Patrick Larrison. The meet will feature events such as the 60m, 200m, shot put, and weight throw, with NM State competing against programs like Baylor and Florida.
The team features standout athletes like Nia Allison, Sierra Brewer, and Jhana Downie, who hold top-10 marks in program history. Some athletes hold records for events like the 200m dash and shot put. New addition Marlee Cavitt, a dual-sport star, will compete in short sprint events after transferring from the University of Portland and playing for the NM State Soccer team.
At last year’s Stan Scott Memorial, Jhana Downie set new records in the 60m dash, Jordan Torres excelled in the 3000m, and Makiya Moore achieved a personal best in the weight throw. Jahnya Hill also made a mark in the 600y dash, and the 4×400 team performed well.
