The Troy-Pike Center for Technology (TPCT) in Troy, Alabama has launched a cosmetology program for the first time in several years as part of its career tech curriculum. Thanks to a grant received last year, dual enrollment students now have the opportunity to learn all aspects of cosmetology from hair to nail care. The program is designed to allow students to earn their cosmetology certification and associate’s degree, preparing them to enter the workforce directly after completion. Maranda Knight, the cosmetology instructor at TPCT, expressed excitement about bringing back the program after 15 years, especially in response to requests from students over the years. Plans are also in the works to start adult night classes for the community.
