‘Snow Way, José!’ Meet the Names of New Mexico’s Snowplows – Albuquerque Journal

New Mexico residents recently got the chance to get creative and vote on names for the state’s snowplows. The results are in, and the names are as unique as the state itself. The Albuquerque Journal reported that over 1,400 suggestions were submitted, ranging from humorous to historical.

Among the chosen names are “SnowMa’Am,” “Plowzilla,” and “Snowy McSnowface.” Some of the suggestions paid tribute to famous New Mexicans, such as the late singer Selena and actor and activist Danny Trejo. Others highlighted the state’s diverse landscape and culture, with names like “Chile Chomper” and “Desert Destroyer.”

The initiative was spearheaded by the New Mexico Department of Transportation as a way to engage with the community and raise awareness about the importance of snowplows in keeping the roads safe during winter weather. The chosen names will be displayed on the snowplows as they work to clear the roads this winter.

Overall, the naming contest has been a fun and lighthearted way for New Mexicans to connect with their state and show off their creativity. It’s clear that when it comes to snowplows, there’s truly “Snow Way, José!”
