Albuquerque Man Arrested for Threatening Trump and Musk on Social Media
An Albuquerque man, Tyler Miles Leveque, was arrested on Tuesday for making threatening posts on social media targeting President-elect Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and other unnamed CEOs. The posts, which began on January 3, included references to Trump’s rally scheduled for January 19, the day before his inauguration.
Court documents show that Leveque was interviewed by the U.S. Secret Service on January 6, where he admitted to purchasing a firearm from an Albuquerque business. His posts, made under the handle tycodancer, stated that he had just bought his first gun and threatened to hunt down Trump, Musk, and other CEOs.
Although Leveque has not been officially charged with a crime, a federal case was filed against him on January 8 for his alleged threats made across state lines. He has a minimal criminal record, with the most recent charge being a traffic citation in 2019.
No hearings have been scheduled yet for Leveque. The arrest serves as a reminder of the serious consequences that can result from making threats online, especially against public figures. Law enforcement agencies are taking measures to investigate and address such threats to ensure the safety and security of individuals and prevent acts of violence.
