Aggies Triumph with Hard-Fought Win Against FIU

The NM State men’s basketball team continued their impressive winning streak with a 59-52 victory over FIU in a tough road game. The Aggies, now 11-6 overall and 4-0 in Conference USA play, showcased a balanced offensive effort with four starters scoring in double figures. Despite FIU’s attempts to rally, the Aggies maintained their composure and secured the win with a strong defensive performance limiting FIU to just 15% shooting from beyond the arc.

The game saw guard Dionte Bostick and senior guard Zawdie Jackson leading the scoring for the Aggies with 13 points each. Gradute forward Peter Filipovity and guard Cook also contributed with 11 and 10 points respectively. The victory marked the Aggies’ seventh consecutive win, maintaining their status as the only unbeaten team in CUSA play.

The Aggies’ defensive intensity was a crucial factor in their success, holding FIU to just 35% shooting from the field. Additionally, Jackson’s efficiency on offense, shooting over 50% in five of the last six games, has been a key asset for the team. Despite this being their lowest-scoring game of the season, the Aggies showed resilience and determination to secure the win on the road.

With this victory, NM State looks to continue their impressive run in conference play as they prepare to face Liberty in their next game. For more updates and coverage of NM State Men’s Basketball, fans can visit NMStateSports.com and follow the team on social media.
