Sandhills Global Technology Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by SCC


Southeast Community College (SCC) unveiled its new Sandhills Global Technology Center at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday. The $37 million project, a partnership between SCC, Sandhills Global, and the city of Lincoln, is aimed at providing state-of-the-art technology training to develop a skilled workforce in Nebraska.

Dr. Paul Illich, president of SCC, sees the center as a game-changer for the tech industry in the state, with a focus on training and developing the workforce needed for economic prosperity. The facility, spanning 65,000 square feet, will offer programs in Biotechnology, Computer Information Technology, Design & Drafting, and Electronic Systems, based on industry insights, faculty input, and student needs.

The Sandhills Global Technology Center also features 5,000 square feet dedicated to industry partners, fostering collaboration and real-world experience for students. Classes are set to begin on January 21, marking a significant step forward in SCC’s efforts to position itself as a leader in workforce development and training.

With a focus on innovation and collaboration with industry partners, the new center is expected to have a positive impact on the tech industry in Nebraska. The unveiling of the facility highlights SCC’s commitment to investing in the future and providing the region with a skilled workforce ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technology sector.
