High school freshman Paul Romero made history by breaking a pair of basketball records in New Mexico. Representing Springer High School in Colfax County, Paul scored 48 points in a 91-31 win against Reserve, setting a new state record for three-pointers in a game by hitting 16 shots from beyond the arc. Additionally, he set the record for points scored in a quarter with 33. Remarkably, the previous record holder for three-pointers was Paul’s older brother, Esteban Romero, who made 15 threes back in 2016.
Esteban expressed mixed emotions about his younger brother breaking his record but ultimately felt proud of Paul’s achievement. The Red Devils team also made history by hitting a total of 23 threes in the game, breaking the previous state record of 22. This remarkable feat by Paul and his team has garnered attention and praise from the community, with many celebrating the extraordinary talent displayed on the basketball court.
