In 2024, Boeing delivered 348 airplanes, a third fewer than the previous year, due to a midair door panel blowout crisis and a machinist strike. This widened the delivery gap with Airbus, which delivered 766 jetliners, the most since 2019. Both companies faced supply chain strains affecting production and backlog fulfillment. In December, Boeing delivered 30 planes as it resumed 737 Max production post-strike. Aircraft shortages from suppliers drove up lease rates. Boeing also received 142 gross orders, including 100 737 Maxes for Pegasus Airlines and 30 787s for flydubai. They removed over 130 orders for Jet Airways. Boeing’s gross orders for the year were 569, with 377 net orders. Airbus had 878 gross and 826 net orders. Boeing’s fourth-quarter and full-year results will be reported on January 28, addressing plans for production ramp-up and profitability restoration.
