New Mexico voters are gearing up for the upcoming general election with the start of early in-person voting and the mailing out of ballots on Tuesday. Chaves County Clerk Cindy Fuller announced that registration services will be available at the Chaves County Administrative Center, with Saturday voting options at multiple locations including the Roswell Mall. The early voting period will run until November 2, with Election Day voting available at various sites throughout Chaves County from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Fuller also reminded voters of the option to vote absentee, with absentee ballots available until October 22 at the Clerk’s Office or online. Those interested can sign up to be on a permanent absentee ballot list to receive a ballot automatically for each election. Ballots must be returned by 7 p.m. on November 5 to the Clerk’s Office or any voting convenience center.
While the county does not have secure ballot drop boxes, completed ballots can be dropped off at a drive-thru window at the Administrative Building on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. To access same-day voter registration, voters must have a valid New Mexico Photo ID or an out-of-county photo ID in addition to a government document or utility bill with their Chaves County address.
With early voting now underway and ballots being mailed out, New Mexico voters have multiple options to make their voices heard in the upcoming general election. For more information on voting procedures and registration, individuals can visit the Clerk’s Office or the NMVote.org website.
