The charges against Adams include bribery, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and solicitation of a contribution by a foreign national. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York stated that they have identified more individuals involved in Adams’ conduct and have discovered further criminal activity as part of the ongoing investigation.
Adams has denied any wrongdoing and criticized the investigation, with his attorney Alex Spiro calling it “amateur hour.” The prosecutors’ response to Adams’ request for more details about the charges argued that revealing alleged co-conspirators could prejudice the ongoing investigation and lead to witness tampering. They cited the threat of witness tampering as a reason to deny a bill of particulars in a white-collar case.
