NM State Softball standout Desirae Spearman has been recognized as one of the nation’s top players by Softball America in their 2025 Preseason Top 100 Players List. The sophomore from El Paso, Texas, was ranked 83rd on the list, making her one of the best athletes in Conference USA. Last year, Spearman had an outstanding freshman season, earning multiple accolades including CUSA Player of the Year and CUSA Freshman of the Year.
In 2024, Spearman led the conference in home runs and OPS, despite missing some games due to injury. She also excelled as a pitcher with an 8-4 record and 75 strikeouts. This season, NM State will face 16 players from the Top 100 list, including matchups against top-ranked teams like Texas and Florida.
Spearman and the Aggies will kick off their season on February 7th at the NM State Softball Complex, hosting UC Santa Barbara and Colorado State as part of the NM State Invitational.
