Nevada suffered a heartbreaking 82-81 overtime loss to New Mexico in a thrilling Mountain West Conference showdown. Despite a strong first half and solid performances from players such as Kobe Sanders and Nick Davidson, Nevada fell short in the final moments as New Mexico clinched the victory with a last-second basket.
The game was a fierce battle with 18 lead changes and 18 ties, showcasing the competitive nature of both teams. Nevada’s strong shooting in the first half, particularly from beyond the arc, gave them an early lead. However, New Mexico’s success at the free-throw line and on second-chance points ultimately made the difference.
Despite their shooting struggles in the second half, Nevada managed to stay in the game with strong free-throw shooting. Unfortunately, a turnover in the final seconds of overtime allowed New Mexico to secure the win.
Nevada will now turn their attention to their upcoming road game against Fresno State on January 11th, 2025.
