In Fullerton, California, a small plane crashed into a furniture manufacturing building, killing two people and injuring 18. The identities of the victims were not yet known. The plane crashed shortly after taking off from the nearby Fullerton Municipal Airport. Security camera footage showed the plane tilting and diving into the building, causing a fiery explosion. Firefighters and police responded to the scene, battling the blaze and evacuating surrounding businesses.
The building was occupied by Michael Nicholas Designs, a furniture upholstery manufacturer, and ten people were taken to the hospital, with eight treated and released at the scene. The Federal Aviation Administration identified the plane as a single-engine Van’s RV-10. Fullerton Municipal Airport has one runway and is located near a residential area and commercial buildings.
The airport had experienced a similar incident in November when another four-seat plane made an emergency landing after takeoff, crashing into a tree. Fullerton is a city with a population of about 140,000 people, located 25 miles southeast of Los Angeles. The incident highlights the dangers of small plane crashes and the potential risks involved in aviation.
