Flint, a deep tech company developing paper battery technology, has secured US$2 million in seed funding to accelerate its efforts to bring sustainable energy storage solutions to market. Led by a global consortium of angel investors, the funding will support commercial expansion, pilot production, and intellectual property development.
Flint’s cellulose-based paper batteries use natural materials and are fully compostable, eliminating hazardous components found in traditional batteries. They are also explosion-proof, leak-proof, flexible, and cost-efficient, making them an attractive alternative to lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries.
With a global energy storage market valued at US$500 billion by 2030, Flint is set to disrupt the industry with its innovative solutions. The company has already secured its first paid pilot project with a global enterprise and has attracted interest from various sectors, including defense, energy storage, consumer electronics, and electric vehicles.
The US$2 million seed funding round, which closed in October, saw participation from private investors from nine countries and Hatcher+, a venture capital firm utilizing AI-driven insights. The capital infusion will be used to scale pilot production, secure intellectual property, and build a team of engineers and scientists.
Flint will showcase its prototypes and products at CES 2025 in Las Vegas to further expand its international presence. The company aims to change the way the world envisions energy storage by creating safer, greener, and more sustainable batteries.
