Rio Rancho set to host massive wrestling tournament this weekend: Prep ahead with these notes


The 2025 Conflict at Cleveland, set to take place at the Rio Rancho Events Center, is gearing up to be the top prep basketball tournament of the school year. With over 70 teams from New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and California participating, the event is expected to showcase some of the region’s top talent. The tournament will feature boys and girls teams, including defending Class 5A state champion Volcano Vista.

The three-round event will kick off on Friday with the final rounds, including the championship finals, set for Saturday. The action is expected to be intense and continuous, with games starting at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

In other news, Wilson Holland is retiring as Los Lunas district athletic director after 15 years. William “Bill” Hays will step in on an interim basis, bringing with him a wealth of experience as a teacher, administrator, coach, and more within the district over the past decade.
