New Mexico State Police Join C.A.R.E. Operation During the Holiday Season


During the Christmas holiday, the New Mexico State Police participated in the Combined Accident Reduction Effort (C.A.R.E.) operation to enhance motorist safety and reduce crashes. The initiative involved increased patrol presence across all twelve State Police districts from December 24th to 26th, 2024, to address the high traffic volume during the holidays.

State Police officers issued nearly 1,000 traffic citations, including 31 for failure to wear seat belts, made 9 arrests for DWI, and investigated 21 crashes. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Bureau also conducted 11 commercial vehicle inspections during this period.

The New Mexico State Police will continue to prioritize motorist safety into the new year, urging the public to drive safely and obey traffic laws while traveling on the state’s roadways. The initiative aims to decrease the number of crashes and maintain a strong law enforcement presence to ensure road safety for all motorists.
