Dr. Thomas “Buster” Mabrey, a well-respected figure in the sports community in New Mexico, passed away after a six-week battle with illness. Mabrey, who was the Executive Director of the New Mexico High School Coaches Association, had a significant impact on athletics in the state for over 30 years, serving as a coach, official, teacher, and administrator.
His passing has deeply affected the local community, with an outpouring of messages and condolences on social media from friends, family, colleagues, and those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 15 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Albuquerque, where all are welcome to honor and celebrate Mabrey’s life.
