The New Mexico State women’s soccer team is set to host UC Davis on September 8 at the NM State Soccer Complex, marking their first home match since August 24. The Aggies aim to extend their unbeaten streak at home to nine games. Loma McNeese, the 2023 Conference USA Player of the Year, recently won her third Offensive Player of the Week award, becoming the third Aggie to do so in three consecutive weeks. McNeese’s stellar performance includes a brace against Pacific, contributing to the Aggies’ 3-1 victory.
With 21 career goals, McNeese ranks third in program history and excels in various other statistical categories. Goalkeeper Valerie Guha also boasts impressive stats, ranking second in shutouts among Aggie goalkeepers. The team, led by offensive powerhouse McNeese, has a strong record at home and looks to continue their success against UC Davis.
In their previous encounter with UC Davis in 2021, the Aggies emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. As they prepare to face UC Davis once again, the Aggies will rely on their strong lineup, including key players such as Brooke Schultz, Xitlaly Hernandez, and Bianca Chacon. UC Davis, with a record of 4-2 on the season, poses a competitive challenge with leading scorer Sam Tristan and goalkeeper Caeley Goldstein.
Following their match against UC Davis, the Aggies will travel to Spokane, Washington, to take on Gonzaga on September 12. Fans can stay updated on NM State Women’s Soccer by visiting NMStateSports.com and following the team on social media.
