New Mexico State women’s basketball team is set to face off against Sam Houston in their conference season opener. Sam Houston has a 7-3 record, second among CUSA teams. Molly Kaiser, a certified legend in NM State Women’s Basketball, has been a standout player with over 1,400 career points. She was named Conference USA Player of the Week for her impressive performances against rival New Mexico.
The team also boasts freshman standout Madi Gewirtz and senior Fanta Gassama, who has been dominating in the frontcourt. The Aggies are led by 11 upperclassmen, including nine seniors, providing experienced leadership on the court.
Sam Houston, led by head coach Ravon Justice, has had success in recent seasons with standout players like Kaila Kelly and Deborah Ogayemi. The game is set to take place on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 5:30 PM MT.
