The UTEP men’s basketball team is set to take on NAIA member Northern New Mexico in their final nonconference game of the season. UTEP, with a record of 9-3, is coming off a three-game winning streak, with their last victory over Yale earning them the championship at the WestStar Don Haskins Sun Bowl Invitational. This achievement marked the first time since 2012-14 that the Miners have won the title for two consecutive seasons. UTEP is on a hot streak, having won six of their last seven games, with their last three victories all coming by narrow margins.
The game against Northern New Mexico will be the fourth of a seven-game homestand for the Miners, who are unbeaten at home this season. UTEP leads the country in steals per game, turnover forced per contest, and 3-point shooting percentage. By entering the top 25 in the College Insider Inc. Mid-Major poll, the team is looking to continue their successful season as they head into conference play.
