Most of the United States will not have snow on the ground on Christmas Day, according to a forecast from the National Weather Service. However, parts of the Rocky Mountains, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and areas close to the Canadian border may see some snow. Other areas, including Kansas, Oklahoma, most of Pennsylvania, and others, were labeled as having “better luck next year” for a white Christmas. Some parts of the Northeast, like Plattsburgh, New York, and Glen Falls, have a chance of snow showers on Tuesday before Christmas.
Buffalo may see snow on Monday night and Tuesday morning, but it is expected to turn into rain. The Rochester area has a chance of snow showers on Christmas Eve. Despite the lack of snow in many parts of the country, millions of travelers were expected to take to the skies ahead of the holidays. Friday and Saturday were projected to be the busiest days for air transportation during the holiday season. The AAA predicted a record number of travelers in the U.S. between Saturday and January 1, with around 90% of them choosing to drive to their destinations. Overall, the U.S. is expected to see 119 million travelers during this time period, which is slightly more than the previous record in 2019.
