Poll: Harris and Heinrich hold a double-digit lead in New Mexico

A recent poll conducted by Emerson College for The Hill shows that Democrats Kamala Harris and Martin Heinrich are leading in New Mexico ahead of the upcoming general election. Vice President Kamala Harris has a significant lead over former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup, while Senator Martin Heinrich is also leading his Republican opponent.

In addition to the presidential and Senate races, the poll also surveyed the three congressional districts in New Mexico. Incumbent Democrats were leading in all three districts, with Gabe Vasquez, Melanie Ann Stansbury, and Teresa Leger Fernández ahead in their respective races.

Approval ratings for President Joe Biden and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham were also included in the poll results. The survey found that opinions on both leaders were divided among New Mexico voters.

Overall, the poll of 965 registered voters conducted between August 20 and August 22 provides a snapshot of the political landscape in New Mexico leading up to the general election. The poll results have a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points for statewide races and provide insight into the preferences of New Mexico voters in key races for the upcoming election.
