RB Eli Sanders transfers to USC following one year at New Mexico

Former New Mexico running back Eli Sanders has announced his commitment to USC, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Sanders, who has one year of eligibility remaining, made the announcement on social media. This will be Sanders’ third college football stop after transferring from Iowa State to New Mexico last year.

During his time at New Mexico, Sanders had a standout season, rushing for 1,063 yards on 147 carries and adding nine touchdowns. This performance caught the attention of USC, where Sanders will now play a major role in the backfield.

Sanders joins USC at a time when the team is going through a transition, with several key players entering the transfer portal. He will be filling the void left by Woody Marks, who declared for the NFL draft, and Quinten Joyner, who entered the transfer portal.

USC finished the season with a 6-6 record and has been dealing with a significant number of player transfers since December. Sanders’ addition to the team is expected to bolster their backfield and bring a new level of talent to the Trojans.
