Eleven Indian nationals and one Georgian national were found dead in a ski resort in Georgia, possibly due to carbon monoxide poisoning. They were employees at a restaurant in Gudauri, where a power generator inside the bedrooms may have been turned on after a power outage. The Georgian police are investigating the deaths as negligent manslaughter, and a forensic team is determining the exact cause of death. The Indian Embassy in Tbilisi is working with local authorities to repatriate the bodies to India. Carbon monoxide from power generators can be lethal and should be used outdoors. In the United States, portable generators are responsible for around 70 deaths annually.
