85 students in the 200 wings of Coronado Hall at the University of New Mexico will be relocated for the spring 2025 semester due to construction to update the bathrooms. The renovation project aims to enhance campus housing facilities and is scheduled to be completed by mid-March 2025. Residents were given more than six weeks notice to plan for the move-out deadline of December 14. Alternative accommodations have been identified across campus to ensure sufficient space for all impacted students. Room rates will vary depending on the type of housing assignment. Some students expressed concerns about the move-out interfering with winter finals and roommate preferences. Resident advisors serving the 200 wings will not lose their jobs and were informed in advance to support students through the transition. The construction will begin on Dec. 16 and efforts will be made to maintain a smooth and comfortable relocation process for all affected residents.
