New Mexico is bracing for a blast of colder air as a cold front moves through the state, bringing gusty winds and dropping temperatures. Chief Meteorologist Joe Diaz warns of bitter winds in the southwestern part of the state, with cold air advisories in place. The front is also expected to bring light snow showers in some areas, with winter weather advisories for difficult travel conditions in place for Raton and surrounding areas. Temperatures are expected to plummet, with lows in the teens and single digits in some areas. Wednesday morning is forecasted to be the coldest of the season so far, with highs only reaching the 40s. The cold snap is expected to last for a few days before temperatures start to moderate towards the end of the week. Residents are advised to bundle up and prepare for the chilly conditions.
