Trump claimed that those incarcerated are living in horrible conditions and unjustly punished by a corrupt system. He highlighted the need for legal relief for these individuals, some of whom have been sentenced to up to 22 years in federal lockup.
Trump also expressed his dissatisfaction with the Justice Department and FBI, criticizing FBI Director Christopher Wray for conducting investigations such as the search of his Mar-a-Lago compound. He indicated that Wray might be fired once he takes office. Trump emphasized that he wants to focus on making the country successful and not seeking retribution against his political foes, including outgoing President Joe Biden.
Additionally, Trump suggested that his nominee for attorney general, Pam Bondi, would have the discretion to investigate individuals involved in the Jan. 6 committee, accusing them of lying and destroying evidence. He expressed his belief that members of the House committee who investigated Jan. 6 should go to jail but clarified that he would not personally instruct Bondi to prosecute them.
