The New Mexico State Aggies secured a thrilling overtime victory against the University of New Mexico Lobos in a close game at The Pit. The Aggies initially had a comfortable lead, but the Lobos tied the game in the closing seconds, forcing overtime. In the extra period, NMSU managed to outscore UNM and secure their 104th win in the Rio Grande Rivalry. Robert Carpenter and Christian Cook were instrumental in the Aggies’ victory, with Carpenter hitting 6 threes and Cook leading the team in scoring with 27 points. Despite a strong effort from the Lobos, led by Nelly Junior Joseph with 16 points, they fell short. The Aggies ended their 5 game losing streak and are now looking ahead to a challenging matchup against the Texas Longhorns next week.
